Is Yeti dishwasher safe? In this particular case, we’re not referring to just any Yeti coolers, but rather Yeti drinkware, such as the Yeti Rambler tumbler.
Of course, it is unlikely you will want to throw a Yeti soft or hard cooler into a dishwasher. Most of them won’t fit anyway.
For tumblers, cups, mugs, jugs, bottles, etc. however, it is possible to put them in the dishwasher and get them cleaned with the rest of your dishes.
The all-important question is whether this is safe to do. The all-important answer is that it is.

How was it before?

Any damage to this mechanism results in the tumbler becoming useless. It was believed that the intense heat inside a dishwasher might be enough to damage the vacuum seal. This is the main reason why Yeti strongly recommended against putting their tumblers in dishwashers.
However, for the longest time, Yeti users would still throw their tumblers in a dishwasher. They noticed that the dishwasher really didn’t have any detrimental effect on the vacuum seal in the tumbler. Again, the rationale was pretty simple here too.
Yeti tumblers are a rugged 18/8 stainless steel pretty hardcore construction. That everyone knows. They can take literal boiling water without experiencing any damage.
If they can handle boiling water, why would the relatively milder heat inside a dishwasher be dangerous for them? This is why Yeti users used to do it.
It should be noted, however, that this behavior was not explicitly endorsed by Yeti. As a result, regularly washing your tumbler in a dishwasher puts you at risk of voiding your warranty. Considering how safe it seemed, many users really didn’t worry about this.
And how is it now?
Yeti seemed to pick up on this trend and decided to run some of their own tests.
They put their own drinkware in dishwasher conditions and found that they were, indeed, unaffected. The tumblers pretty much thrived in that environment.
Yeti, therefore, decided to change their stance on the whole matter and declare their drinkware dishwasher safe in 2015.
Warning labels and care instructions were slowly updated to reflect this change of stance.
Also, you didn’t risk losing your warranty by throwing your Yeti cup in a dishwasher anymore.

It should be noted that, while it is okay to put your tumbler in a dishwasher, there are certain things you should take note of. For starters, you shouldn’t throw your lid into the dishwasher too.

The rubber gasket under the lid of a Yeti tumbler or cup is crucial to keeping the cup- airtight. If it gets damaged, then your drinkware’s ability to insulate its contents will be compromised.
The heat in a dishwasher is actually strong enough to damage that rubber gasket, and so the one should never be put in the other.
There is also another factor to consider here. Washing the actual mug of Yeti drinkware is pretty easy. A bit of soap and a cleaning wand will do the trick. However, washing the lid needs a lot more care.
The gasket tends to hide a lot more grime, leading to the risk of mold growth if not cleaned properly. To clean the lid, therefore, you need to physically remove the rubber gasket (You can use a knife to help, but be careful not to damage the gasket in the process) and then clean it and the lid separately.
Make sure to get into all nooks to get rid of all the grime. This has to be done carefully by hand or else you risk hosting mold colonies on your tumbler’s lid.
