Hello and welcome to REYLEO cooler review, another exciting cooler review on our website. Now, this company is a little different from other coolers we have reviewed before, and that’s because it does not have an official website and not much is known about it.

REYLEOREYLEO’s main presence is on Amazon, where it sells an interesting looking cooler in just one size.

We’re guessing it’s probably an Amazon FBA brand, though we’ll update this page as we learn more about the company.

That said, the company has grown quite popular among Amazon buyers, racking up very high ratings and garnering positive reviews from buyers.

They must obviously be doing something right. This is what attracted us to them in the first place, and so we decided to take a closer look at what they had to offer and write a Reyleo cooler review for our readers.

We weren’t disappointed.

REYLEO Cooler Review

This cooler has a unique design right out of the box. It’s pretty fresh looking and stands out from other coolers on the market visually.

The design is aggressive, with lots of grooves and indents and an interesting mix of straight lines and curves. I would say it reminds me of Optimus Prime from the Transformers for some reason.

It’s definitely not a bad design. For all the risks they took when it came to standing out, they seem to be enjoying the fruits as I and a lot of other people on Amazon clearly like what they came up with.

Build and Design

The cooler is rotomolded, which immediately places it at the top shelf in terms of quality. This also makes it a great value proposition, considering the price tag.

It only comes in one size, 21 quarts, but costs $80.

The Yeti Roadie 20, which we discussed in this review, which has the same capacity (20.8 quarts in fact), costs about $200.

That is an insane difference!

Of course part of the reason this cooler can afford to be so cheap is that the manufacturing has been outsourced to China and it sells purely through an Amazon FBA model (no distributors, no website/online store costs, etc).

However, that doesn’t mean they cut any corners on the quality. The cooler certainly offers a pretty solid build and lots of cool features, making it an excellent alternative to the YETI Roadie 20 and all those Yeti knock offs that don’t offer anything unique in terms of design.

As mentioned earlier, the body has an interesting design with lots of straight lines and gentle curves.

REYLEO Cooler 21 Quart capacity 30 Can

REYLEO Cooler Spec

  • Capacity: 21 Quart/ 20L
  • Ice Retention: 3-5 days
  • Cup Holder
  • Built-in Bottle Opener
  • Interior Dimension: 14.17 x 9.45 x 9.84 Inches
  • Exterior Dimension: 18.31 x 13.78 x 13.39 Inches
  • Weight: 16.9 Lbs

Features

It is rotomolded with a thick and strong lid on the top. The latching mechanism on the lid is a regular t-latch design but the rubber is made of reinforced TPE. They initially offered normal TPE T-latches, but later improved it to reinforced TPE with higher tensile strength and greater durability.

The lid has an industrial-grade rubber gasket for an airtight seal and a strongly integrated hinge on the back with an aluminum rod.

The majority of the cooler features can be found on the lid. There is a fish ruler right on top of the lid, making this a great option for those who like to go fishing and want to measure their catch easily.

The customary bottle opener any self-respecting cooler should have is on one of the front corners of the lid. On the two rear corners are cup holders, where you can fix your coffee mug or beer bottle when you’re out and about and don’t want to hold it in your hand.

On the side of the cooler is a drain plug for draining out the water. It’s pretty airtight, though I wish it came with a chain to tether it to the cooler and prevent loss. All the same, it’s a welcome feature as draining all the melted ice away should be a breeze.

Another customary feature you would expect from any self-respecting cooler is a set of 4 non-slip feet on the bottom of the cooler.

Insulation and Ice Retention

On the inside, we have about 2 and a half inches of polyurethane insulation to help keep the ice-cold. With a capacity of 21 quarts, this cooler can easily hold up to 30 cans of cola.

The ice retention advertised is between 3 and 5 days, which we thought was satisfactory, although after our test we're pretty sure it's more 3 days than 5 days (also taking the small size of this cooler into account, as larger coolers typically have better ice retention capability).

Don't get us wrong – 5 days is possible, but it would be stretch. To make it happen, you'd have to mix cubed ice with the large block ice, pre-chill the cooler before using it, keep it in the shadow, do not open it too often and so on. Who does all of that?

To wrap up this part, the Reyleo cooler won’t last you a week out on the high seas, but it’s good enough for a weekend camping getaway.

4 half stars

Carrying

The cooler only has one handle, which is made of stainless steel with a plastic grip in the middle. I didn’t like this too much as the grip is a little too smooth, making it hard to carry the cooler comfortable with sweaty hands.

The handle is also pretty thin, which means it’s probably going to eat into your skin and get uncomfortable if the cooler is fully laden and you’re hauling it by hand over a long distance.

On the side, the cooler has indents where you can insert your fingers to carry the cooler from the side. This is good enough when the cooler isn’t too full but can get quickly uncomfortable when it’s full.

Available Sizes and Colors

The Reyleo cooler comes in only one size: 21 quarts (30 cans).

This is understandable. REYLEO is only just starting out, so it’s impractical to expect them to have a large offering while they test the market. We hope they expand their offering soon, however, considering how popular the cooler is getting.

The good news is that the cooler comes in 5 colors: Blue, Pink, White, Light Gray, and Sea Green.

In all 5 color options the latches, drain cap, and gasket under the lid are bright yellow colors to give some contrast to the rest of the cooler.

You can view the higher resolution pictures of each color at this Amazon page.

REYLEO Cooler vs. Yeti

A proper Reyleo cooler review wouldn't be complete if we didn't include the Reyleo vs YETI comparison!

An interesting thing to note here is that the Rayleo’s insulation thickness is comparable to YETI's. However, YETI is famous for its long ice retention periods, which are longer than REYLEO’s.

reyleo cooler vs yeti

Given the similar insulation thickness, perhaps REYLEO can improve their design in the future to promote air tightness in their cooler and match up to their ice retention to what the YETI Roadie 20 offers. However, what they currently offer in terms of ice retention isn’t too bad either.

The REYLEO is also very unique in its design and isn’t blindly aping Yeti like many other cooler brands on the market, and that's a big plus.

It has an aggressive design that we’re sure will carve a niche out for itself in the market fairly quickly. If the reviews at Amazon are anything to go by, it’s already begun!

The REYLEO is also quite affordable, vs. the Yeti. The $80 price tag is certainly attractive to those trying to save money without necessarily skimping on quality.

That said, YETI still has a lot of aces in this comparison. It is a more established brand, it has more offerings in terms of sizes and colors (REYLEO has only 1 size offering and 4 color options), and has an extensive market for accessories and customizations.

Verdict on REYLEO vs YETI

Ultimately, REYLEO is a great option for someone who’s not afraid to try something new and doesn’t want to spend too much money. It also helps if you don’t need a large cooler and don’t want a cooler for anything longer than a weekend getaway.

Otherwise Yeti is the clear choice here.
